PROTECT: Cross-Border Epidemiological Cooperation
Within the framework of the PROTECT project, we participated in a three-day professional event in Slovakia, which focused on epidemiological control, infection tracking, and animal health research. The programs took place in Zvolen, Vígľaš, and Košice, where international experts and institutions shared their experiences and latest research findings.
One of the key pillars of the meeting was the lecture series entitled "Understanding viral and bacterial infections in animals." The presentations highlighted the importance of modern laboratory diagnostics and the opportunities for preventive control. The topic was discussed in detail by Prof. MVDr. Anna Ondrejková, PhD and Prof. MUDr. Pavol Jarčuška, PhD, who provided insights into the transmission mechanisms of pathogens and the correlations between human and animal health interfaces.
Prof. Ing. Juraj Ciberej, PhD and MVDr. Miroslav Mojžiš, PhD presented practical diagnostic approaches and the latest laboratory methodologies. Their presentations clearly demonstrated that rapid and accurate identification is crucial for preventing cross-border epidemics.
The study visit in Slovakia provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and deepen the professional dialogue between experts from the countries involved. The joint work highlighted that the effective management of cross-border health threats can only be achieved through close international cooperation and the development of joint protocols.
We would like to thank the organizers and speakers for the high-quality program, the professional guidance, and the warm hospitality.
