The 9th medical mission started in Malawi on the 17th of October. This was the 3rd neurosurgeon team, who came from The National Institute of Clinical Neurosciences, Budapest. Members of the team: dr. Laszlo Szegedi neurosurgeon specialist, who is also the organizer of the mission, dr. Gabor Nagy and dr. Attila Bago neurosurgeon consultants, dr. David Nagy resident, dr. Kelemen Jozsef anesthetist and Kitti Baranyai head nurse.
The main sponsors of the mission were Food Angels Hungary and Pure Life Foundation.
During the two weeks’ mission our doctors were in the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and also in the Mercy James Institute for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care, where they performed a lot of life saving and life improving surgeries. The whole of Malawi has only one neurosurgeon, who couldn’t be able to perform all these surgeries.
In addition to the surgeries spreading knowledge was also important. Thus the Hungarian doctors gave various trainings to Malawi doctors and local operating staff.”
