Work continues within the framework of the project titled "PROTECT – Pandemic Response and Operational Tactics for Enhanced Containment and Tracking", with the identification number HUSKROUA/23/RI/2.1/011.
In recent weeks, we participated in our partners' conferences in Ukraine , Slovakia and Romania . The aim of these meetings was to coordinate the tasks undertaken in the project, engage with the professionals and experts involved by our partners, to gain insight into the current rabies situation in the cross-border regions, and to conduct laboratory visits.
Rabies, as well as other zoonotic diseases (transmitted from animals to humans), do not recognize national borders, as wild and stray animals are not restricted by them. Rabies can be fatal if not treated in time, which is why early detection — in both animals and humans — is crucial.
In the next phase of our work, we will examine public and livestock owners' awareness of rabies and other zoonotic diseases as part of the research carried out within the project.
We have already begun developing the research methodology, and the survey will be launched soon.
The project is implemented under the Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine Interreg VI-A NEXT 2021–2027 Programme, in partnership with the Planetrise Cultural and Environmental Association.
