The PROTECT Project – on the Spread and Prevention of Rabies and Other Zoonoses – Has Been Launched

29/09/2025

On 25–26 September 2025, we held the Hungarian kick-off conference of the project entitled "PROTECT – Pandemic Response and Operational Tactics for Enhanced Containment and Tracking", ID number HUSKROUA/23/RI/2.1/011.

The two-year project aims to strengthen epidemic preparedness, cooperation, and effective responses to zoonoses within a cross-border partnership.

The project is implemented under the Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine Interreg VI-A NEXT 2021–2027 Programme, in partnership with the Planetrise Cultural and Environmental Association.

Our organization's responsibilities within the project include assessing the knowledge of residents, livestock farmers, and hunters in partner countries and in Hungary's border regions regarding the spread, management, and prevention of rabies and other zoonoses. In addition, we will publish the results of the survey in the form of a scientific paper, and prepare educational publications and brochures for prevention and information purposes.

As part of the two-year project, further professional meetings, consultations, workshops, and public information lectures will also be organized.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, guests, and participants for contributing to the success of our opening conference!
