Official launch of the "PROTECT" Project – Spread and Prevention of Rabies and Other Zoonoses
On September 25-26, 2025, we held the Hungarian kick-off conference for the program titled "PROTECT – Pandemic Response and Operational Tactics for Enhanced Containment and Tracking" (Project ID: HUSKROUA/23/RI/2.1/011).
The PROTECT project aims to strengthen the preparedness of public health systems for infectious diseases, including zoonoses, by improving surveillance, containment, and cross-border cooperation.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme, in partnership with our the Planetrise Cultural and Environmental Association.
A multinational partner team from four countries ensures the success of the project:

Partner No. 1: Non-Governmental Organization "European Initiatives Center (Ukraine)
Partner No. 2: Planetrise Cultural and Environmental Association (Hungary)
Partner No. 3: Regional Innovation Agency (Slovakia)

The objective of this two-year project is to foster epidemiological preparedness, cooperation, and effective response strategies regarding zoonoses within the cross-border partnership.
Our organization's tasks within the project include: assessing the knowledge of the general public, livestock farmers, and hunters in the partner countries and domestic border regions regarding the spread, treatment, and prevention methods of rabies and other zoonoses.
Furthermore, it is our responsibility to publish the survey results in the form of scientific publications and to produce educational materials and brochures for prevention and information purposes.
As part of the two-year project, additional professional meetings, consultations, workshops, and public information sessions will be organized.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, guests, and participants for the success of our kick-off conference!
