Back in Uganda, on Sharp Island - part III.
Meetings and consultations with our colleagues from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The past two days were spent in discussions on Sharp Island. We were visited by our colleagues from Congo, with whom we are jointly running food production, education, and research projects in the Nyangezi region of South Kivu.
Since the area has been affected by armed conflict since January, several aspects of our work required coordination. We discussed the next steps of our research in the field of food security and explored potential developments for our ongoing programs, taking the current circumstances into account.
Our colleagues arrived with their families. The little ones quickly bonded, and so the next generation has already begun their collaboration—starting with play.
During our stay on the island, we also outlined the main directions for upcoming research, internship, and volunteer programs planned for Sharp Island and its surroundings.
We will share more details as soon as they become relevant. Until then, we welcome all travel enthusiasts to the magical Sharp Island, at Gorilla Lodge!
